It took me a while to figure out how God wanted me to use my gifts. While attending high school here in Gibson City, I served on the praise team at GCBC but also participated in music and theater at the school; after graduating, I went on to earn a BA in theater and creative writing. It wasn’t until my senior year of college that the Lord got my attention and called me to serve as the worship leader right here at my home church. My wife (Megan) and I have been here ever since. I’m the one you see leading the praise band and congregational singing most Sundays; during the week, I’m busy planning the worship service and leading and developing the musicians, sound, and video techs. Meanwhile, I’m finishing up a MA in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, with an emphasis on Worship, Theology, and the Arts, and eagerly awaiting whatever the Lord has in store for my future. If your story is like my story, and you’re wondering how God might be calling you to use your artistic or technical gifts—or if you just want to wax theological about worship or discuss the way we worship as a body here at GCBC—I’d love to hear from you.
